Rise UpBULL SPEC's debut is now available and features Fuqua's short story "Rise Up," a "Sharps & Flats"
tale, in both the magazine and in audio format in several translations. From the BULL SPEC website: "It's been quite a ride over the first several days here at BULL SPEC, and this is a story which went directly from the inbox and did not pass 'Go' on its way to becoming our proud choice as our first original short story. A well-paced and crafted story which is hard to squeeze into a 'genre,' it is loosely 'contemporary fantasy' or 'dark fantasy' as it weaves a bit of musical folk magic into a story of the love between a mandolin player and a bluegrass singer. Set against the Appalachians, we hope readers from the Durham area and around the world enjoy it as much as we did. This is the second story utilizing the Sharps & Flats music store and its owner in a secondary role to the plot. The first story, 'The Sharps & Flats Guarantee,' written and published in the late '80s, was chosen by Karl Edward Wagner to appear in the annual Year's Best Horror Stories." This new story, offered in Spanish,
Chinese, French, and English, utilizes songs critical to the plot, songs you can hear now by using the player below.

Big Daddy's GadgetsBig Daddy's Gadgets, published by Awestruck Books, is a satirical, socio-political romp that one reviewer calls "heartwarming and full of adventure," a book "that will make you laugh as you follow along with Big Daddy and his time machine experiments." Eyes of a ChildFrom Uncial Press and available from Amazon.com, C.S. Fuqua's poignant short story, "Eyes of a Child," recounts a farmer's imprisonment of an angel in a desperate attempt to "heal" his severely handicapped daughter, but his demands -- and prayers -- are answered in ways he never dreamed. "In 'Eyes Of A Child' ... Hollis prays for a miracle to transform his physically and mentally handicapped daughter. But when an angel comes, Hollis captures her... and pleads with her to do something. Hollis is dying, the child's mother is dead, and he knows how cruelly the world will treat his daughter once he is gone...In the end, [the angel] does help Hollis and [his daughter], but in a way that [is] both tragic and joyful." -- Jim Reichart, Tangent Short Fiction Review, December 1999
