TWO
BOOKS FOR ONE PRICE! If
you've ever wanted to play the 6-hole Native American flute,
and play it well, these books are for you.
(You get both books in this set.) No music background
is required. All the tunes are written in an easy to read
tablature, (music notation that anyone can understand),
whether you know anything about formal music notation or
not. Regardless of what kind of 6-hole flute you own, and
regardless of what key it's in, (C, D, E, F, F#, G, A, it
makes absolutely no difference), you will be able to play
the tunes in these books. In Jump-Start Flute you'll learn
to play Native American type tunes after being introduced
to the Pentatonic scale, the easiest to play scale on the
flute. The Blues on the Native American Flute book shows you how to play low down blues
on any 6-hole Native American flute. It's all here, in these
two books. NOTE: The tablatures in this book are for a 6-hole
flute, only. If you own a 5-hole flute, you might consider
purchasing an inexpensive 6-hole flute so you can access
this book. |

JUMP-START FLUTE: Picture yourself sitting around a campfire with your friends.
You are far out in the woods, away from noisy civilization.
The fire cracks and pops, and all are content as they find
themselves literally melding with nature. Now you reach
into your backpack and pull out your beautiful Native American
flute. You blow a few soft notes. The children, nestled
in the arms of their parents, sleep peacefully. Now you
add some structure to the tune you've started. The notes
are sweet as they weave themselves among the smoke and blissful
life-giving heat. Before you realize it, you are becoming
one with the flute. Those around the campfire are gently
taken to a new place, a new space. Any tension that may
have been present in any of you dissipates as the beautiful
melody of the flute encircles and embraces you.
Of
course, you can play the flute in any setting—not just
around a campfire. You can play the flute for your children,
your lover, your friends, your pet. Your beautiful music
may even calm down an enemy or two. <g> And it doesn't
matter if you're sitting around a campfire, or out on your
patio, because the flute will perform its magic on you and
everyone around you, regardless of the setting. All you
have to do is play it. And that's what campfire Flute will
do for you. It will take you from knowing absolutely nothing
about the flute, to playing it with expertise and authority,
and with that expertise you will experience a great peace.
Even if you've never played any kind of musical instrument
before, you can play the flute. Not all of us have the potential
to be great musicians. Not all of us are physically gifted
so the instrument we choose to play becomes putty in our
skilled grasp. And not all of us have the musical imagination
to compose our own tunes from scratch. But this doesn't
mean we can't enjoy the instrument we might choose to play.
Countless enthusiastic people who have wanted to make music
have undoubtedly muttered to themselves in frustration,
"If I could just find a good book to show me how, I'd
be a terrific musician." If you have had these same
thoughts, this book is what you've been looking for.
Bottom
line? Jump-Start Flute is the perfect introduction to
playing the NAF in the Native American way. |
AUDIO SAMPLES FROM THE BOOK: Broken Hearted Blues, Big Girl Rumble, Smooth Move Blues, Ramblin' Blues, Triple Trouble Blues, Corinna, St. James Infirmary

REVIEW:
Hello Dick. Happy New Year. It's been a couple of months since I last
contacted you. Would've done it sooner but have been involved in
ministry and other things plus the holidays and I just think I got a
little above my head there for a while. Anyway I still continue with
the flute and have gotten better even though I can't read a note. I can
easily follow the tabulature and can play nice music. And that's what I
did over the holidays. I sure am glad I bought ALL your books so far
because I've gotten a lot of information out of them, plus I'm learning
to play different kinds of music on the Native American Flute. I
thought I'd be stuck playing one style of music but you opened my eyes
to different kinds of music. And my family, friends, and relatives
think I'm some kind of musician.....ha....if they only knew I can't
read a note. Over the holidays I played Christmas Carols, Hymns, and
some basic Blues songs from the book Celebrate the Native American Flute, and am getting deeper into the Blues through your Blues on the Native American Flute (you are on this page) book. I'll be ordering your latest book The Native American Flute Craft
and try my hand at actually making flutes out of bamboo and PVC. [I'm
also planning on] purchasing a PVC flute with multibarrel.... Your main
page YouTube video convinced me about the PVC. Awesome and informative
videos. Thanks Dick.............Paul |

Author
BIO: Dick
Claassen has been a musician since a very young age. He began his
musical life with piano lessons, and he hated to practice. The sound
of the piano just didn't intrigue him enough to make him want to practice.
Even so, the piano gave Dick good training in chord structure and
melody line.
When Dick was in high school he began the exploration of the guitar,
eventually putting his efforts into the classical guitar. That experience
was very satisfying, because Dick had found an instrument he truly
loved. Soon, though, Dick began to explore the 5-string banjo, finger
picking his way to Nervana. :-) Then he explored the blues harp, (harmonica
played in a bluesy way). Not satisfied with having enough musical
things to do, he explored the dulcimer, learning to finger pick it
like he did the guitar and banjo.
Now Dick is exploring the Native American flute. He instantly fell
in love with the beautiful tone of the instrument, and playing the
flute was as satisfying as all the other instruments he had learned
to play. But Dick still wasn't satisfied. He found that there really
weren't that many instruction books for the NAF. So he decided to
write his own. He just finished writing the flute tablature book,
Celebrate the Native American Flute, and he is currently working on
the second book in this series, Jewels For the Native American Flute.
Dick has spent most of his life as a teacher, teaching math and chemistry
students at the college level, and teaching banjo and guitar to anyone
who wanted his expertise. Dick has written two math textbooks for
Houghton Mifflin, numerous magazine articles, and eleven novels for
Awe-Struck E-Books. The links to his novels are available from the
FluteFlights book menu. |
